Nike Tennis Shoes & Apparel: Shox & Skirts

It remains an icon of modern capitalism and industry: a simple checkmark tweaked by Nike, a leader in the world of athletic footwear, apparel and equipment. It is the Nike Swoosh.

Nike emblazons its almost universally recognizable logo on everything it markets. One niche market in which Nike has done particularly well is the tennis industry. Indeed, the company produces a wide variety of tennis shoes and apparel.

A true Nike fan (and there are plenty of them all over the world) can don Nike gear—quite literally—from head to foot. The company produces anything a tennis aficionado could want, including visors, t-shirts, warm-up pants, windbreakers and even socks. For the female player, in addition to the aforementioned garments, Nike produces tank tops, shorts and skirts.

The functionality of the garments themselves is perhaps what contributes to Nike's popularity among athletes. Made of high-tech, lightweight and breathable fabrics, Nike tennis apparel makes for great workout apparel. It also can be worn casually, too, due to Nike's awareness for aesthetic concerns.

Apparel aside, one cannot deny Nike's real contribution to athletic equipment lays in its footwear division. In terms of tennis, the Air Zoom Revive is one Nike tennis shoe continually proving its quality. What makes it so special? As designers are quick to point out, it is the first ever tennis shoe with an interchangeable outsole system. Basically, this means the shoe comes with, not one, but two sets of outsoles.

The outsole wraps around the upper part of the Nike tennis shoe, providing a secure and stable ride, while increasing toe and upper durability. Tennis players are the first to point out that hours of maneuvering upon a hard tennis court makes a quality, durable and shock-resistant shoe irreplaceable; hence, the interchangeable outsole. When one of the Nike tennis shoes wears down and no longer offers the support and durability it should, the user can simply remove the outsole and replace it with the second set.

Shoe engineers refer to this piece of footwear technology as a removable translucent TPU shell with DRC2 rubber compound in high-wear areas. By wrapping around the toe and heel, tennis players are afforded a great deal of foot support. The Nike tennis shoe outsoles come in two colors—blue and red—so one has a degree of aesthetic versatility.

This Nike tennis shoe likewise provides a snug and supportive fit—and as most athletes know, a good fit is absolutely essential to preventing injury and improving one's overall performance.

Both male and female tennis players possess a variety of Nike apparel and footwear options to choose from.
